Choosing your Wig Hairstyle

Wig Hairsyle

When you are faced with choosing a new custom human hair wig, your world may seem constricted and bleak. Most women believe that a wig means one universal, unflattering style that they are forced to wear. However, a custom human hair wig has the ability to be cut, shaped, colored, and styled to your satisfaction. This means choosing the hairstyle that is best for you, and never feeling trapped. This allows you the freedom to choose a hairstyle that matches your personality and suits your lifestyle. There are several things to consider as you choose your new wig hairstyle.

  1. Never choose a wig hairstyle because you think you have no other choice. There are plenty of “rules” and suggestions out there saying which haircuts and hairstyles are best for certain ages and face shapes, but they are never set in stone. The most important thing when choosing a wig hairstyle is that you feel comfortable and confident.
  2. Many of the hair trends today can work on any face shape. The real key to making a hairstyle work is through styling.
  3. Consider any characteristics of your face that you may not want to draw attention to. Once you have determined these areas, choose a wig hairstyle that compliments your face shape without highlighting the areas you wish to have blend in.
  4. Determine what type of face shape you have. The most commonly categorized face shapes include, oval, heart, square, round, and long.
  5. Never be afraid to try something new. A short cut can look chic and edgy while a longer cut with bangs can be bold. Going into a haircut for your wig with the feeling of being limited or stuck will only make you dislike the final product. Talk with your stylist to determine which new hairstyle will work best for you and your new wig.

At Wigs and Hair Solutions, we work with our clients to determine the wig hairstyle that will suit them best. Our trained hair stylists will ask you several questions to determine what type of wig will work best with your lifestyle and overall fashion style.

Human Hair Wig Care Tips

human hair wig care

A human hair wig should be considered an investment rather than just a mere accessory. Human hair wigs are typically more expensive than ready to wear synthetic wigs, so they should be greatly cared for. Some may think that human hair wigs can be treated as if the hair was attached to an actual head, but that is not true. Human hair wig care should be done with patience and care. Here are some tips for human hair wig care:

  • Washing- Before any washing should take place, your wig should be detangled using a wig brush. During the washing and conditioning process, your wig should always remain in your hands. Use cold water to wet your wig and begin to wash. While washing, be sure to start from the top of the wig and work your way down to the ends. After washing, rinse your wig in cold water as well. Repeat these steps as you condition your human hair wig.
  • Drying- After washing your wig, comb it gently to remove any tangles. Comb starting from the bottom of the wig and work your way up, being sure to always comb downwards. To avoid wringing any access water from the wig, use a dry towel to pat the hair. Allow your wig to air dry by placing it on a hairspray can or wig stand. Never place a wet wig on a mannequin; this will lead to your wig cap stretching. If you want to restyle your human hair wig, low heat from a blow dryer or curling iron will be safe to use.
  • Styling- Make an appointment with your friendly stylist at Wigs and Hair Solutions.

At Wigs and Hair Solutions, we specialize in the styling, maintenance, and fitting of both human hair wigs and synthetic wigs. We help our clients with human hair wig care while being sure your human hair wig remains styled and in great condition. Our stylists ensure that each of our clients leave feeling beautiful and confident in their human hair wig. All of your human hair wig care questions will be answered when you ask one of our trained stylists.

Summer Wig Maintenance

Summer Wig Maintenance

The summer season is officially upon us. While others are worrying about what color nail polish to wear or when they should visit the beach, women who wear wigs are stressing about how to care for their wigs in the upcoming months. Not to worry, summer wig maintenance is easy and not stressful at all.

Keeping cool and taking care of your wig this summer is simple, especially with these easy tips:

  1. If possible, switch out your human hair wig for a synthetic wig during the summer months. Synthetic wigs are lighter and therefore cooler to wear during the hot months of summer.
  2. Try out a shorter style during the summer. Long wigs that cover the nap of your neck prevent air circulation, which can get hot after a while. Try a style that allows circulation around your neck.
  3. Don’t want to go short? Not to worry, try braiding your wig to the side to allow air circulation. You can also try a simple up-do to increase air circulation.
  4. When it comes to cookouts, let someone else do the grilling. With the high heat of summer, any exposure to serious heat could cause serious damage to your wig. Storing wigs in an area that gets hot quickly, like the trunk of a car, can cause damage as well.
  5. Summer means extra washing for your wigs, but not too much. Washing about once a month during the summer will keep your wig clean without causing damage to the hair fibers.
  6. Wearing a hat or head wrap while spending long periods outdoors will help protect your wig along with keeping your head and neck cool.

Wigs and Hair Solutions can help with all of your summer wig maintenance needs. We can help style a new or current wig for you to wear during the hotter months of summer as well as help with upkeep and washing.
