Honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Maryland

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, officially observed by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. The purpose of the campaign is to increase awareness of the disease, raise funds for disease prevention, and to celebrate our sisters diagnosed with breast cancer. The NCBF’s mission is to help those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.

One in eight women will develop breast cancer at some point in her life. This month in Maryland, support the research, community programs, and educational outreach necessary to finding a cure.

Susan G. Komen

The Susan G. Komen foundation is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other non-profit while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Since its founding in 1982, Komen has invested more than $2.6 billion in research and community health programs in more than 30 countries.
